In 1900, the Last Outlaws in Australia were declared. A pair of Aboriginal brothers went on the run after the murders of a family of white women and children, leading authorities on Australia’s largest manhunt.

The fallout would have ramifications for the colony’s prisons, law and race science, the echoes of which are still felt today.

This is a story about interracial love, prejudice and justice.

This series is a collaboration between the descendants of the Governor brothers - family historian Aunty Loretta Ethel Parsley, actor Leroy Parsons - and 20 years of research from UTS Law academic Prof. Katherine Biber.

Judges' Comments NSW Premier's History Award:

“Resisting the formulaic constraints of the true-crime genre, The Last Outlaws embarks on truth-telling about the impact of colonisation, racism, violence and criminal law….

“The Last Outlaws creates a new standard in historical podcasting in its depth of familial, archival, and legal research, shining a light on the ongoing impact of the colonial systems on Aboriginal families.
